Western Star, unlike most others, is a relatively young commercial vehicle company and will begin operations early this year or at the end of the last century. Western Star was founded in 1967 as a Canadian subsidiary of the White Motors Corporation of Cleveland, Ohio. Western Star's manufacturing and engineering offices are located in Kelowna, British Columbia. In 1981, the company was sold by Western Star to two Canadian companies after the sale of the Swedish US-based Volvo to White Motors Corporation. This is how Western Star started working on its own. Western Star used to make cab-over-engine trucks with a conventional layout, but recently the first type of vehicle has been discontinued.
