Caterpillar Tractor Co - company history

Caterpillar Tractor Co. was formed in 1925 through the merger of Holt Manufacturing Company and C. L. Best Tractor Co. Its real name is Caterpillar Inc. - the company received in 1986.

The main companies are Benjamin Holt and Daniel Best. Holt was the inventor of the first production tracked tractor - in 1904 he developed a steam-powered machine.

Caterpillar currently offers over 300 products. The company is a world leader in construction and mining equipment, natural gas and diesel engines, and industrial gas turbines. Caterpillar machines and components are manufactured in 50 locations in the United States and 60 more in 23 other countries around the world.

It produces earth-moving equipment, construction equipment, diesel engines, power plants (fueled by natural and associated gases) and other products. It includes more than 480 divisions located in 50 countries of the world on five continents. The headquarters is located in the United States.
