Peterbilt Motors Company is an American company that manufactures classic (ballast) trucks and truck tractors. The company is a subsidiary of Paccar.
The company was founded in 1939. From the early 1960s to the mid-1980s, the company was based in San Francisco with its main plant in Newark, California. In 1986, the Newark plant closed. The headquarters was moved to Denton in 1993. In 2008, a hybrid power plant was used for the first time on tractors of this brand. It was created and manufactured by Eaton Corporation. In the future, it will appear on Kenworth cars
Headquartered in Denton, Texas, the company also manufactures trucks at Paccar's factories in St. Therese, Quebec (Canada) and Mexicali (Mexico).
