The Japanese company Kato Works Co. Ltd., dating back to 1895, received its present name in 1935. At the beginning of the 20th century it produced locomotives and railroad motor cars, then - tractors, road rollers, cranes and drilling rigs. Production of hydraulic excavators began in 1967.
Currently, Kato's product line includes truck cranes, all-terrain vehicles, excavators and drilling rigs. The company manufactures its products at two plants located in Japan.
